Trailer Repair Technician Position Summary Motors in Motion is seeking a skilled and dependable Trailer Repair Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of trailers, including utility, cargo, equipment, dump, and enclosed trailers. This position requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. Motors in Motion is a Drug-Free Workplace. Key Responsibilities Inspect trailers to identify mechanical, structural, electrical, and brake-related issues. Diagnose and repair suspension systems, axles, leaf springs, hubs, bearings, brakes, and wheel-end components. Install and replace trailer lights, wiring harnesses, breakaway systems, and electrical components. Repair or replace trailer decks, walls, ramps, fenders, and other structural components. Install and repair couplers, jacks, safety chains, tongue assemblies, and trailer accessories. Perform wheel bearing service, including cleaning, inspection, packing, and adjustment. Service hydraulic and electric brake systems. Perform preventative maintenance inspections and complete repair recommendations. Operate shop equipment safely, including lifts, torches, grinders, air tools, and diagnostic equipment. Maintain accurate repair orders and documentation. Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Communicate repair findings and estimated completion times with service advisor. Assist with inventory management by identifying parts needed for repairs. Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards. Qualifications Previous experience repairing trailers, heavy equipment, RVs, trucks, agricultural equipment, or similar mechanical systems preferred. Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of trailer brake systems, suspension components, bearings, axles, and electrical systems. Ability to read repair orders and follow technical instructions. Basic computer skills for documenting repairs. Valid driver's license preferred. Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in various positions throughout the day. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures. Ability to safely operate shop equipment and power tools. Preferred Qualifications Experience with trailer axle alignment and suspension repair. Knowledge of Dexter, Lippert, Rockwell American, and other trailer component manufacturers. Forklift certification is a plus. Welding certification is a plus but not required.
