Job Description
The CDL Driver / Shop Technician Specialist plays a key operational role at BioWest's Nampa facility by safely delivering finished products to local farms and growers, transporting ingredients and other production inputs between suppliers and BioWest facilities, and helping maintain company trucks, trailers, fertilizer application equipment, and production equipment. As a key member of the Operations & Production Unit, the CDL Driver / Shop Technician Specialist reports to the Nampa Plant Supervisor and provides hands-on support for transportation, shop maintenance, production, and general plant operations to promote safe, reliable, and efficient performance across BioWest facilities. Primary Responsibilities Safely deliver finished products to local farms and growers using Class A or Class B commercial vehicles, as assigned. Transport production inputs, raw materials, and finished products between suppliers, BioWest facilities, and customer locations as assigned. Complete required driver logs, mileage reports, delivery records, and other transportation documentation accurately and on time. Inspect, operate, and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on semi-trucks, tankers, trailers, and other delivery vehicles. Service and repair fertilizer application equipment, production equipment, and small engines. Load and unload materials, production inputs, equipment, and liquid fertilizer using safe material-handling practices. Maintain an orderly shop, including tools, equipment, parts, and consumable supplies. Fabricate or modify equipment to support operational needs, including welding and basic mechanical work. Assist with fertilizer production and custom blend mixing during peak periods or as assigned. Support general plant operations and other duties necessary to meet seasonal production and customer needs Qualifications Valid Class A CDL, or the ability to obtain one as required for the position. Experience operating commercial vehicles and performing basic truck, trailer, or equipment maintenance. Mechanical aptitude and experience with tools, welding, fabrication, preventive maintenance, or equipmentrepair. Forklift certification or operating experience and experience working with agricultural or industrialequipment preferred. Basic computer and math skills, including the ability to complete operational records, interpret mix sheets,and accurately prepare required production and shipping documentation. Ability to communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members. Dependable, self-directed work style with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Schedule and Physical Requirements Monday-Friday, generally eight-hour shifts, with overtime and weekends as needed during busy seasons. Ability and willingness to work extended hours during spring, fall, harvest, and other peak operational periods. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 40 pounds.
