Our Customer Service Center in Des Plaines, near O'Hare airport, is one of our flagship locations in the U.S., serving major airline customers. We are growing and looking for ambitious individuals to join our Maintenance team and grow with us in a dynamic, team-based and fast-paced environment. Truck Mechanic Job Responsibilities This role is responsible for performing routine fleet maintenance tasks; Inspects fleet equipment to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs, making notes and recommendations using checklist logs. Performs fleet maintenance duties to include but not be limited to inspections, minor repairs, add/or replacement of (e.g. bulbs, fuses, fluids, plates. licenses, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools. This role is additionally responsible for addressing and resolving maintenance issues that occur in daily operations for the fleet equipment.
More specifically:
Provide safe and reliable vehicles upon completion of inspections, repairs and/or preventative maintenance. Complete preventative maintenance, diagnose, and repair fleet of equipment including: straight trucks, vans, pick-ups, and cars. Perform minor repairs and adjustments to various operating systems on the vehicles, equipment or related components Ensure all safety devices on vehicles are in good working order Professional interaction with internal and external employees and customers Maintain accurate records/logs (time, repair orders and parts usage) on computer Ensures that proper testing has been completed before returning equipment to production. Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems. Perform road test and service calls for emergency breakdowns Ensures fleet equipment is operational and systems are ready for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; maintaining maintenance records; following policies and procedures; completing repairs and installing replacement parts; reporting needed changes Able to deal with difficult situations, resolve issues and concerns in a professional manner. Work and accomplish tasks in a stressful, fast-paced environment Inspects the quality of outside/supplier repairs. Must be capable of standing, walking, bending, stooping kneeling, crouching, crawling or climbing ladders for an extended period of time. Lift up to 50 Lbs., Push/Pull up To 75 Lbs. and the ability to work at heights Must follow all LSG Sky Chefs' GMP's and work consistent with all food and personnel safety, quality, sanitation and health requirements. Job Requirements Must be able to work flexible hours Knowledge of basic electricity and mechanical systems Must be able to obtain a CDL 'B' in 60 days (LSG can help you obtain a CDL 'B' in-house at no cost to you). Must have previous work or educational experience in fleet or trucks or automotive maintenance/training experience. Capability to read, understand, and work from equipment manuals, blueprints, specifications, and schematic Capability to operate both powered and manual hand tools Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively and read and write in
