at Altorfer Inc in East Peoria, Illinois, United States Job Description Shop Technician - Truck Shop Req No. 2026-5660 Category Technicians Location US-IL-East Peoria Type Regular Full-Time Union or Non-Union Union - 399 Division Power Systems Company Altorfer Inc Working Hours/Days 7 to 4 pm Monday - Friday / Saturdays when required OT when available Overview Provide technical service support to Power Systems customers in a shop environment. This support is in the form of maintaining and troubleshooting diesel engines. Able to successfully perform a complete engine overhaul, Assist in the shop with engine tear downs, cleaning parts, staging parts for bigger engines, installing and testing to ensure the concern is fixed. A company that offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a remarkable team of people to work with. Basic Duties Performs troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines in shop. Performs routine maintenance on diesel engines. Performs engine overhauls and other major repairs, as needed. Parts ordering for work orders. Reports work on timecards and service reports. Works with service office to coordinate work. Assists service office with repair quotes. May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2-year degree from an accredited Diesel Engine Technology Program or equivalent experience in mechanical service work. PC skills required and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred. Must always have outstanding positive attitude! Good communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent customer service skills necessary. Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. Class A or B CDL High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid license and clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).
