Service Technician Job Description The Service Technician will specialize in delivering, picking up, setting up, tearing down, and performing maintenance and repair on all rental equipment. Responsibilities Prepare, inspect, and operate equipment prior to delivery. Load and unload delivery vehicles with equipment scheduled for delivery. Explain proper use and care of products to customers. Retrieve equipment for customers, assist with loading equipment, and restock returned products. Inspect products on return to ensure items are clean, in good repair, and refilled or maintained according to rental agreements. Identify and tag products that need repair, cleaning, or modification before restocking. Maintain organization and cleanliness of facilities and work area, including company vehicles. Identify and resolve problems timely and efficiently. Complete paperwork accurately; maintain records of hours worked, accounts serviced, and administrative time. Determine parts, materials, and supplies needed for repairs, maintenance, or modifications; order necessary items. Remove, disassemble, assemble, and install components and parts. Perform preventative maintenance tasks, service, and maintain equipment sold and/or owned. Receive orders from the order desk and retrieve goods from the warehouse. Check packing list for accuracy and inspect collected goods. Pack orders for shipment. Essential Skills Troubleshooting and repair expertise. Proficient with hand and power tools. Understanding of electrical wiring and automotive repair. Strong mechanical aptitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications Diesel troubleshooting and repair is highly advantageous. Ability to operate materials handling equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, skid steerers, and forklifts safely. Capability to read repair manuals and schematic diagrams. Work Environment The role is a first shift position from 7am-3:30pm with potential for 5-10 hours of overtime, depending on business needs. Work will take place across a large property with multiple buildings containing offices, a warehouse, and a shop for work. The position requires comfort working outside year-round. Training will be conducted by lead techs. Dress code includes steel-toed boots, long pants, and a work shirt. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnsburg, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
