Diagnose and repair mechanical, structural and electrical problems. Complete accurate work completion records. Inspect trailer units for damage or worn parts. Perform and accurately record preventive maintenance on trailer units. Diagnose and repair unit malfunctions using latest techniques and equipment. Accurately complete work completion reports as required. Clean and tidy the work area. Observe all safety and other shop rules Such other maintenance duties as may be assigned. High school diploma or GED. Certification in truck and trailer brake maintenance from a recognized truck technology program. At least one year of hands-on truck/trailer mechanic experience. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong customer orientation. Sufficient dexterity and strength to use hand tools and operate mechanical devices utilized in truck and trailer repair. Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Job involves walking, standing or stooping for long periods. Must have ability to safely climb stairs, ladders, and equipment footholds. Some work from heights is required. Some work in cold or hot weather conditions required. Must possess ability to work nights and weekends where required.
