This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of company vehicles, trucks, trailers, tractors, skid steers, and other construction and erosion-control equipment. We are looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working on a variety of equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanic who enjoys variety and wants to work in a hands-on environment where no two days are exactly the same. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company fleet vehicles and equipment Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and operational issues Perform preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filters, fluids, brakes, belts, hoses, batteries, and other routine service items Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety concerns, damage, wear, and needed repairs Repair and maintain trucks, trailers, tractors, skid steers, and miscellaneous construction equipment Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and determine appropriate repairs Perform basic welding and fabrication when necessary Maintain accurate service and repair records Track preventative maintenance needs and help ensure equipment is serviced on schedule Maintain an organized shop and work area Assist with parts identification and ordering as needed Respond to occasional field repair needs when equipment cannot be returned to the shop Communicate equipment condition and repair needs to management Ensure repairs are completed safely and efficiently Help identify potential problems before they result in major equipment failure or downtime Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: Previous experience as an automotive, diesel, fleet, heavy-equipment, agricultural, or construction-equipment mechanic Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Experience working on trucks and fleet vehicles Experience with tractors, skid steers, loaders, or similar equipment Ability to perform preventative maintenance and general mechanical repairs Basic knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems Ability to safely operate tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs based on operational needs Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Diesel experience is strongly preferred but not required for the right candidate. Experience with welding/fabrication, trailers, small engines, hydraulics, DOT-regulated vehicles, or construction equipment is also a plus.
