You know cars. You know what goes wrong. And you know how frustrating it can be when customers don't feel like they're being heard. What if you could use everything you've learned in the shop to help customers make better decisions — without spending every day fighting flat-rate, chasing hours, or turning wrenches until retirement? Kansas City Hyundai is looking for an Experienced Automotive Technician who wants to take their career in a different direction. This isn't a traditional Service job. It's an opportunity to take your technical experience, customer-service skills, and knowledge of the automotive business and use them to become a trusted resource for our customers. What You'll Actually Do Be the expert customers trust. You'll help customers understand their vehicle needs, explain repairs and maintenance in a way that makes sense, and help them feel confident about their decisions. Your experience gives you credibility that can't be taught in a classroom. Educate — don't sell. You've spent years diagnosing problems and explaining what's happening with a vehicle. You'll bring that same approach to the customer experience. We aren't looking for a "closer." We're looking for someone who can listen, understand, educate, and recommend the right solution. Build relationships that last. You'll become a trusted point of contact for customers before, during, and after their purchase. You'll know their vehicle, understand their needs, and help make sure they continue to have a great ownership experience. Be the bridge between the customer and the dealership. Your technical background gives you a unique understanding of both sides of the business. You'll work closely with Sales, Service, Parts, and Management to make sure customers get the answers and support they need. Use your experience differently. Your years in the shop aren't something you're leaving behind — they're your competitive advantage. You'll use your knowledge every day without the physical demands and frustrations that come with turning wrenches full-time. Keep growing. This role isn't a dead end. We're looking for people who want to grow into leadership, management, service operations, sales leadership, or other opportunities within the dealership. Who You Are You're an experienced automotive technician. You understand diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, vehicle systems, and what it takes to properly take care of a customer. You know how to talk to people. You can explain complicated automotive issues in a way that makes sense without talking over someone's head. You take pride in your work. Your reputation matters to you, and you don't cut corners. You're honest. You understand that doing what's right for the customer is what builds a business for the long term. You're tired of the grind — but not the industry. Maybe you're ready for a change from flat-rate, physical demands, inconsistent hours, or simply turning the same wrenches you've been turning for years. You're hungry for something more. You want to use your experience to build a career, increase your earning potential, and have a bigger impact. You're coachable. You already know the automotive business. We're looking for someone willing to learn a different side of it. What We Bring to the Table A leadership team that values experience and expertise A professional environment where your automotive knowledge is an asset Compensation that rewards performance and customer relationships Training to help you transition from technician to customer-facing professional A team that works together across Sales, Service, Parts, and Management Opportunities for advancement and leadership A dealership culture built around doing the right thing for the customer The opportunity to build a long-term career without necessarily spending the rest of it on the shop floor Why This Role? You've already invested years learning the automotive business. You know what a bad repair looks like. You know when a customer isn't getting the full story. You know how vehicles work. You know what people are worried about when they drop their keys on the counter. That experience has value. Now you have the opportunity to use it in a different way. If you're an experienced technician who loves the automotive business but is ready for a new challenge, we want to talk to you. You don't have to leave the automotive industry to change your career. You just have to change the seat you're sitting in. Kansas City Hyundai — Bring your experience. Build your next chapter.
