  • A Mobile Service Truck Mechanic needs a good understanding of how diesel engines work. Diesel mechanics work to keep engines in top repair. In addition to repair work, routine maintenance is part of the job.
  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
  • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Perform thorough maintenance on trucks, equipment and systems
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines
  • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
  • Undertake other duties as assigned ( Repair of hydraulic systems, Tire repairs, etc.)
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to drive to client sites / breakdown locations to repair and maintenance vehicles mostly on a nontraditional schedule.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach to working directly with customers.
  • Ability to diagnose failures and observe for unreported problems
  • Requirements
  • Proven experience as Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of Diesel engines and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Very good communication skills
  • A problem-solving ability
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • High school diploma is preferred; Certification is a definite plus
  • Own hand tools required
  • Work Conditions
  • While a Diesel mechanic may have the opportunity to do work inside a shop, some of the work as a Diesel mechanic involves work on the job site in all types of weather.
This keeps the mechanic on his feet most of the working day. Some of the work is in cramped spots, while other work may be from ladders. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
