Equipment Operator Position Overview The purpose of the service truck/equipment operator is to fuel equipment and keep water in the roller. Also to work behind the asphalt paver and at times operate heavy equipment at soe locations to prepare job sites. The career field for "Equipment Operator" includes, but may not be limited to, the following positions: Heavy Equipment Operator, Loader Operator, Shuttle Buggy, Paver, Back Hoe. CDL Class A/B with Tanker & Hazmat required! This is a union position - Successful candidate may become part of the local 14581 Steelworkers Union (if not already a member) if they so choose. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all company policies and
OSHA/MSHA
regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
  • Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
  • Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Knowledge of a diesel pump is a plus.
  • Perform general laboring duties when necessary.
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
  • Other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Requirements
