Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heavy Truck Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. In this energetic role, you will manage the maintenance of our fleet. Diagnose, troubleshoot, make required repairs, service trucks and ensure each truck meets DOT Regulations for optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting the logistics and operations that keep our business moving forward. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on Vacuum Trucks, Hydro blasters, ½ ton and ¾ ton vehicles (Diesel and Gasoline Engines) and related equipment using schematics and technical manuals. Conduct repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspensions, hydraulics, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems to ensure compliance with safety standards. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and fabrication techniques to complete repairs and modifications efficiently. Interpret technical schematics and electrical diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform diagnostics accurately. Perform tire services including dismounting and mounting tires. Assist with assembly, disassembly, and equipment repair tasks while adhering to safety protocols. Available after hours for any call outs due to equipment being down. Maintain maintenance records as repairs and other services are being made. Qualifications Knowledge of heavy truck maintenance or similar industrial equipment. Experience is highly desirable for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems such as Peterbilt, Cummins or other heavy machinery brands. Knowledge of schematics for electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, HVAC units, and suspension components. Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts is a plus. Proficiency with automotive repair tools including hand tools, power tools, diagnostic scanners, and alignment equipment. Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues swiftly. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or maintenance tasks. Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and drivers regarding repairs or maintenance needs. Class A or B CDL with Tanker and air brake endorsements a plus.
