Job Description
A well-equipped automotive fleet shop is hiring an Automotive Technician in Geismar, LA to maintain and repair GM light-duty vehicles. Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose, service, and repair GM light-duty fleet vehicles, including Chevrolet and GMC 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups. Troubleshoot gasoline engine, drivability, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and related vehicle issues. Remove, install, and repair engines, transmissions, axles, and major components as needed. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, fluid service, battery service, filters, and routine repairs. Use scan tools, shop equipment, lifts, alignment equipment, and testing procedures to identify issues and confirm repairs. Test drive vehicles, document completed work, maintain a clean work area, and follow safe shop practices.
Requirements Required:
Proven experience as an automotive, light truck, pickup truck, fleet, or engine mechanic. Strong hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline engines, drivability issues, and mechanical repairs. Diagnostic and troubleshooting experience across electrical, brake, suspension, steering, drivetrain, and related vehicle systems. Ability to work independently, complete repairs from start to finish, and support larger repairs with limited supervision. Must provide own tools and be comfortable using standard shop equipment and diagnostic tools. Valid driver's license, acceptable MVR, and ability to meet company driving requirements. Able to lift up to 40 lbs, complete site orientation, and pass required pre-employment screening.
Preferred:
GM 1500, 2500, or 3500 pickup repair experience. GM gas engine, engine replacement, transmission R&R, or electrical diagnostic experience. ASE Certifications, TWIC, OSHA, or diesel pickup experience are helpful but not required. #PJ1
Compensation:
$30.00 - $37.00/hour based on experience, certifications, and qualifications Hourly pay with no flat rate Weekly pay
