Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic - Cummins Experience Maryland | Full-Time | $32.00/Hour + Overtime We are seeking an experienced Heavy Truck & Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Maryland. This position is for a skilled technician with strong diesel diagnostic and repair capabilities who can independently maintain and repair heavy trucks and construction equipment. Cummins experience is highly important, and Cummins-certified technicians are strongly encouraged to apply. Compensation & Schedule $32.00 per hour Overtime paid for hours worked over 40 Overtime is required as workload demands Full-time position Occasional evening and weekend availability is required After-hours work may be required when necessary to keep equipment operational Very occasional road/field service This is primarily a shop-based position, but the technician must be willing to respond when an equipment problem requires occasional field service or after-hours attention. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair diesel engines, with a strong emphasis on Cummins engines Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, fuel, cooling, and mechanical systems Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services Repair heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment Diagnose check-engine lights, fault codes, aftertreatment issues, and performance problems Perform engine, drivetrain, brake, suspension, and related repairs Identify developing problems before they result in major downtime Maintain accurate service and repair records Keep the shop and work areas organized and professional Help ensure trucks and equipment are safe, dependable, and ready for work Perform very occasional road service and field repairs Work overtime and occasional evenings/weekends as operational needs require Qualifications Significant experience as a diesel, heavy truck, or heavy equipment mechanic Cummins certification strongly preferred Strong hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing Cummins engines Strong diesel diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Experience with electronic diagnostic software and scan tools Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems Ability to independently diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts Ability to prioritize repairs and manage workload Strong attention to safety and quality workmanship Valid driver's license Ability to work required overtime when needed Availability for occasional after-hours, evening, and weekend work Ability to perform occasional field/road repairs CDL and additional manufacturer certifications are a plus Tools Required Technicians must provide their own professional mechanic's tools appropriate for heavy truck and equipment repair. Candidates should have a well-rounded personal tool set sufficient to perform normal day-to-day mechanical work. Specialized diagnostic equipment and major shop equipment are not expected to be personally supplied by the technician.
