Fleet Mechanic To apply: Email resume to Todd Truax (ttruaxpleasantsconstruction) or submit an application on company career page (pleasantsconstruction/employment/employment-opportunities/) Job Summary Class A Fleet Mechanics are required to perform fleet maintenance, diagnosis, and repairs on trucks/equipment in a safe, efficient focused manner. Takes direction from Fleet Supervisor/Shop Foreman on the daily tasks that need to be completed, must also have the ability to work independently without supervision. Responsibilities of the position are:

• Perform repair work on vehicles such as breakdowns, malfunctions and emergency roadside repair in a safe, efficient, and quality manner
• Perform operation test (electronic diagnostics) prior to repairs to verify complaint
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to manufacturer's specifications including engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension and steering, fuel and ignition (gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, and HVAC systems
• Follow paper-flow procedures including documenting correct mileage/hours, save and tag all warranty and core parts, document all repairs on work order (equipment 360) using complaint, cause, and correction format, follow parts ordering procedures
• Perform final operational test on all vehicles to quality-check all repairs
• Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to maximize the safety, productivity, and life of the unit.
• Perform DOT inspections
• Perform preventive maintenance on trucks such as fluid changes, lubrications, safety inspections, and brake repairs
• Examine vehicle to determine if any additional safety or repair work is needed

• Knowledge of engines (Gas and Diesel)
• Knowledge of transmissions (Automatic and Manual)
• Knowledge of brakes and suspensions
• Knowledge of hydraulics
• Knowledge of the various vehicles and equipment.
• Skilled in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on trucks and equipment
• Skilled in welding and cutting
• Skilled in DOT inspections
• Ability to operate various pieces of equipment

Qualifications:

• 7+ heavy truck mechanical work related experience with knowledge of engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics
• Able to diagnosis repairs on electrical systems
• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be team player able to work independently
• Must maintain good attendance record
• Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position. Variations to the work schedule need to receive the supervisor's approval
• Employee may also be required to handle and perform work safely and efficiently through stressful situations
• Must be agreeable to work other than regular hours on a fixed or rotating basis
• Must travel to any location to do work in varying weather conditions, and be able to work inside or out

Environment:

Working conditions are normal for a shop environment. This position also includes exposure to noise, dust, grease, vibrations, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces including slippery or uneven surfaces and rough terrain; incumbents may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends. Work involves frequent lifting of materials over 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats/bump caps. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
