Job Description

Job Description Train Under a 40-Year Veteran. Take Over the Shop Next Season. GLC Landscaping & Pools is looking for a Fleet & Equipment Mechanic to train directly under our longtime in-house mechanic during his final season with the company. This is not an entry-level position and not a temporary internship — it's a direct path to becoming our lead mechanic, with full mechanic pay starting day one.
Why this role is different:
You'll work side-by-side with someone who knows every truck, trailer, mower, and piece of heavy equipment in our fleet — and you'll have his full season to absorb that knowledge before he retires. You're not waiting years to prove yourself into a lead role — that's the plan from day one. Competitive mechanic wage immediately, not an intern wage with a vague promise. What you'll be working on: Trucks, trailers, and company vehicles Landscape maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, small engines) Heavy equipment used in hardscape and pool installation (skid steers, excavators, and similar) Pool-related mechanical systems and equipment What we're looking for: Hands-on mechanical experience — diesel, small engine, automotive, or heavy equipment background all welcome Someone who wants to learn the full picture, not just punch a clock — you're inheriting a shop, not filling a slot Reliable, self-directed, comfortable working independently once trained Valid driver's license; CDL or willingness to obtain one is a plus
Compensation & Schedule:
Competitive pay based on experience — full mechanic wage, not a training stipend Full-time, in-season hours with a clear handoff timeline GLC will provide shop space, top of the line tools, etc.
About GLC Landscaping & Pools:
We're a growing Downriver-area company with two divisions — landscape/hardscape/pool installation, and property maintenance — and a team that takes care of its equipment and its people. This is a rare chance to step into a shop with real history and make it yours. — we're moving quickly to make sure there's real overlap time with our current mechanic before he retires this season.
Pay:
$27.18 - $32.74 per hour
