Job Description

Automotive / Light Duty Diesel Technician Kleyn Auto - Jenison MI Monday-Friday - Every Other Friday Off $70,000-100,000/year Hourly + Performance Incentives We've been building this shop since 2007, and over the years it's grown into something we're really proud of. What started as one operation has expanded into multiple divisions. Our heavy duty diesel and emergency vehicle work runs separately. This position is in our automotive division, which operates out of its own building and focuses on light-duty vehicles, including diesel pickups and everyday passenger vehicles. Pay $70,000 - $100,000 per year depending on experience and production Hourly base pay with performance incentives Annual pay reviews Benefits Health, dental, and vision through Blue Care Network 2 weeks paid vacation to start Additional week of vacation after 5 years 7 paid holidays $1,300 annual tool allowance Uniforms provided and laundered Heated and air-conditioned shop Designated break area Schedule / Work-Life Balance Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Every other Friday off Flexible when life happens and you need time What the Shop Is Like Our automotive division runs 15-20 vehicles per day across all makes and models, including gas vehicles and light-duty diesel pickups. We're set up with 17 lifts, a couple flat bays, OE software, and aftermarket scan tools. The team currently has 5 technicians, and we're looking to grow that to 6-8. The day moves, but it's organized. Work is scheduled, and when a job turns into something bigger, we adjust instead of forcing it through. How We Operate We use the EOS system, which means expectations are clear and people are trusted to do their job without being micromanaged. New hires spend their first few days learning our systems and workflow, including time with different departments. After that, it's ongoing coaching and development. Communication is direct. We address issues through conversation and follow-through, and we recognize when things are going well. The Role You'll be working on light-duty automotive and diesel vehicles, not heavy duty trucks.
Day-to-day includes:
Diagnosing and repairing gas and light-duty diesel vehicles Handling maintenance and repair work across multiple makes and models Working through scheduled jobs while adjusting for more complex repairs Collaborating with advisors and other technicians Occasionally speaking with customers when needed We expect solid production (around 80%) while maintaining quality work. Training and Development We require 3.5 hours of training per month Complete it, and you earn an additional $2/hour on top of your base pay We also attend events like Vision, SEMA, and local industry training when available. The Team We keep things simple and consistent. We've taken the team boating, go-kart racing, and to industry events. When we hit a strong month, sometimes it's steaks on the grill. We recognize wins in monthly meetings and stay connected through weekly production meetings and group huddles. Most of our technicians have been here 8-10 years. Growth Opportunity There's room to grow here, whether that's becoming a stronger diagnostic technician or taking on more responsibility over time. What We're Looking For State-certified technician Experience with automotive and/or light-duty diesel vehicles Own a basic set of tools Someone who takes pride in their work and contributes to the team We look for people who get it, want it, and have the capacity to do it. If you want to work in a shop where you know what you're walking into every day, where the work is steady and the expectations are clear, let's chat! Questions?
