Our company provides a comprehensive range of landscaping and outdoor living services and is currently seeking a Lead Fleet Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you'll combine hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership to ensure that trucks, heavy equipment, and small engines operate safely and efficiently, with minimal downtime. This is a full-time, hourly position based in our Oak Park, MI, location. Our team members earn and enjoy the best compensation and benefits in the industry: Health, dental, and optical insurance, as well as a comprehensive menu of other wellness products 401-k with matching Profit sharing PTO and Holiday pay Ongoing training and career development Company-provided uniforms Referral bonuses And more… Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on diesel, gas, and hydraulic equipment, including company vehicles, trailers, tractors, heavy equipment, snow plows, salt spreaders, small engines, and two-cycle equipment Diagnose and repair mechanical and operational issues across a diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal fleet performance and longevity Inspect, repair, and adjust air brake systems in accordance with safety and regulatory standards Supervise and support team members, with a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience required Conduct mobile, in-field repairs as needed to minimize downtime and maintain operations Complete all maintenance and repair work in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and quality expectations Collaborate with the Branch Manager to secure purchase orders before ordering parts, tools, or supplies Complete maintenance and repairs according to company, industry, quality, and time standards Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment, including the shop, parts rooms, and storage areas Support continuous improvement through ongoing learning and skill development Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the service and repair department
Requirements:
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel engines and equipment, including oil changes, lubrications, and filter replacements. Must be insurable by the company's insurance carrier Must have own tools & reliable transportation Minimum of 3 years' experience in a repair facility environment Prior experience in the green industry is a plus Availability for 24/7 on-call work during the winter season, including weekends and holidays Ability to lift 50+ pounds, bend, stand, and walk for extended periods Strong multitasking, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to work efficiently, follow instructions, and complete assignments thoroughly Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and consent to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-incident testing
