As a Classic Car and Hot Rod Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and restoring classic cars and hot rods to their peak performance. Your skills will help preserve automotive history. This is an exciting opportunity for skilled mechanics eager to work on hot rods in an air conditioned facility with an average of 75 cars in process year round. That's Minor Customs is located on the corner of 19 Mile and Merrill in Sterling Heights. Our campus consists of four buildings. (Mechanic Shop, Body Shop, Paint Shop and Sandblast/Interior Shop) We take pride in building a strong and meaningful culture where our mechanics, body techs, painters and support staff have become family. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics to identify issues in classic and custom vehicles. Repair and overhaul mechanical systems including suspension, brakes, shocks & struts, and powertrain components. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes and vehicle inspections. Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy equipment mechanics techniques to restore or modify vehicle components. Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems specific to vintage cars and hot rods. Collaborate with mechanic shop manager to provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance, and ensure satisfaction with the finished work. Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety standards during all repair procedures. Requirements Proven experience working in the automotive repair industry with experience working on classic cars or hot rods. Strong mechanical knowledge of automotive systems including powertrains, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical wiring. Ability to perform repairs using a variety of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and heavy machinery safely and effectively. Valid certifications in automotive repair
Pay:
$30.00 - $50.00 per hour
