Job Description

Halvor Lines is looking for a full-time experienced Truck Trailer Technician to join our team at our Rosemount, MN Terminal! Truck Trailer Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining industrial and over the road trucks and trailers. Competitive wages:
$26 to $36 per hour - depending on experience. Holiday pay + Paid time off Tool + boot allowance
Truck Trailer Technician:
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Communicates and greets drivers in a professional, friendly manner and encourages drivers to be safe out on the road. Maintains a favorable working relationship with drivers.
  • Reads job orders and also observes/listens to equipment in operation to determine malfunction while also planning work procedures.
  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repairs as needed/requested.
  • Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on equipment and make adjustments as needed.
  • Examines all equipment/tractors/trailers for external leaking of lubricating or cooling systems and properly repair the leak.
  • Mounts, dismounts, repairs, and balances tires as needed.
  • Performs brake jobs, wheel seals, s-cams, and bushings.
  • Repairs and adjusts suspensions.
  • Removes, replaces, and adjusts components.
  • Performs alignments and annual vehicle inspections.
  • Installation of all in cab technology including: satellite tv's, logging units, dash cams, etc.)
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs A/C systems, brake systems, air systems, electrical systems, ABS systems, fuel systems, and mobile communication systems.
  • Performs some fabricating, welding (stick, wire feed, braze, solder) cutting (gas, plasma, saws) riveting, and fiberglass repair.
  • Performs trailer structural repair, including removal and installing decals.
Truck Trailer Technician must always wear proper safety equipment where required, including ear protection, appropriate safety glasses, and safety boots. Additional safety equipment such as face shields, welding goggles, gloves, etc. must be used when applicable. Individual must provide own tools.
Truck Trailer Technician:
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two-year prior related experience.
  • Class D Driver's License required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required.
  • Must possess basic math skills.
  • Must possess ability to read and write.
  • Ability to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to work safely and in accordance with all company safety requirements at all times.
  • Cab Air Conditioning Certification required (if repairing trucks).
  • Forklift Training Certification required (will train individual if certification is not currently held).
Truck Trailer Technician Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Heavy lifting up to 110 pounds (0-33%)
  • Able to climb in and out of trucks/tractors and trailers and up and down ladders.
  • Lifting from floor to waist up to 50 pounds occasionally (0-33%).
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds while lying on back occasionally (0-33%).
  • Pushing up to 100 pounds with leg assistance occasionally (0-33%).
  • Frequently reach to remove and/or install and tighten parts (34-66%).
  • Constantly handling and gripping parts, tools, and equipment (67-100%).
  • Frequent repetitive motion and vibration when using riveter and air wrench (34-66%).
  • Ability to get into tight areas.
  • Frequent exposure to high noise levels, hot to very cold temperatures, and dirty conditions.
