St. Croix Trailers is looking for a dependable, versatile fabricator to join our small custom trailer shop in Stillwater. We build custom trailers that require much more than repetitive production welding. The right person will be a strong welder and fabricator who is also comfortable installing and troubleshooting trailer electrical and plumbing systems. Because we are a small shop, everyone helps with different parts of the build and takes ownership of their work.
Primary responsibilities:
MIG welding and steel fabrication Measuring, cutting, fitting and assembling trailer components Fabricating brackets, equipment mounts, frames and custom parts Installing and troubleshooting 12-volt trailer wiring, lights, batteries and related equipment Installing 120-volt outlets, breaker panels, shore-power components and equipment under approved plans Installing PEX plumbing, freshwater tanks, pumps, drains, sinks and related systems Installing equipment, wall panels, trim, flooring and other trailer components Reading drawings, layouts and measurements Repairing and modifying existing trailers Helping with general shop work and miscellaneous fabrication projects Keeping work accurate, safe and organized What we are looking for: Demonstrated welding and fabrication ability Ability to produce clean, structurally sound welds Strong measuring, layout and problem-solving skills Experience with trailer, automotive, RV, marine or mobile-equipment electrical systems is highly valuable Plumbing or PEX installation experience is highly valuable Ability to work independently without constant supervision Reliable attendance and good communication Willingness to handle different tasks as each custom build progresses Pride in workmanship and attention to detail TIG welding, aluminum fabrication, trailer-building, cabinetry, finish work, equipment installation and electrical troubleshooting experience are all pluses. Pay will be determined by an applicant's verified skills. Candidates do not need to be experts in every area, but welding and fabrication experience is required. We are willing to train the right fabricator on some trailer-specific systems.
