Create Excellence. At Blue Sparrow Lawn & Landscape, we believe every successful day begins long before our crews arrive on a jobsite. It starts with equipment that starts every time. Trucks that are clean and organized. Trailers that are fully stocked. Tools that are exactly where they belong. A shop that operates with precision. A facility that reflects the quality we promise our clients. We're looking for an experienced mechanic who takes pride in creating that level of excellence. Approximately 80% of your time will be spent performing preventative maintenance and repairing our commercial fleet of mowers, small engines, trucks, and trailers. The remaining portion of your role is ensuring our shop, equipment yard, and facility operate with the same attention to detail that has made Blue Sparrow one of the Kansas City area's premier landscape companies. If you're happiest with a wrench in your hand but also believe everything should have a place, every machine should be clean, and every crew should leave prepared for success, we'd love to meet you. Your Mission At Blue Sparrow, we believe mechanics don't just repair equipment. They create reliability. Every productive day our crews have starts with equipment that's serviced, trailers that are stocked, tools that are organized, and systems that work. Your job is to make that happen. We're not looking for someone who fixes things after they break. We're looking for someone who prevents them from breaking in the first place. Success in this role isn't measured by how many repairs you complete. It's measured by how reliably our crews leave each morning with clean, organized, fully functional equipment that's ready to perform. Primary Responsibilities Fleet & Equipment Maintenance (Primary Focus) Perform preventative maintenance on all commercial equipment. Diagnose and repair commercial mowers, handheld equipment, and small engines. Repair and coordinate maintenance of trucks and trailers. Maintain service schedules and maintenance records. Identify potential issues before they become costly breakdowns. Minimize equipment downtime through proactive maintenance. Shop Operations Maintain an exceptionally clean, organized, and professional shop. Ensure every tool has a designated location and is returned after use. Keep floors, benches, and work areas spotless and free of grease and clutter. Maintain organized parts inventory and shop supplies. Continuously improve shop organization and efficiency. Operations Coordination Prepare trucks, trailers, tools, and specialty equipment for daily crew departures. Coordinate equipment and material needs with field teams. Ensure crews leave each morning fully prepared for success. Anticipate upcoming equipment and supply needs. Facility Stewardship Take ownership of our headquarters inside and out. Maintain beautiful grounds, healthy turf, and thriving landscapes. Ensure equipment is washed, organized, and stored properly. Keep the yard clean, professional, and visitor-ready at all times. Qualifications Required Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience. Experience repairing commercial lawn equipment and small engines. Experience maintaining trucks and trailers. Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Valid driver's license. You'll Thrive Here If You... Take pride in your work. Notice details others overlook. Believe cleanliness and organization improve performance. Are proactive instead of reactive. Enjoy creating efficient systems. Take ownership without being asked. Believe "good enough" isn't good enough. Compensation & Benefits Starting at $20+ per hour , based on experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability. We believe great employees deserve opportunities to grow. As Blue Sparrow continues to grow, so do the opportunities for increased responsibility, advancement, and compensation.
