Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The CO-USA Maintenance Mechanic maintains and specializes in vehicles and small engines, performs skilled diagnostic, repair, preventive maintenance, and overhaul work on a variety of motorized equipment. This includes light and heavy-duty vehicles (cars, trucks, fleet vehicles), as well as small gasoline and diesel engines powering lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, pumps, ATVs, snowmobiles, tractors, and other outdoor power equipment. The role ensures safe, reliable operation of equipment, often in municipal, parks/recreation, landscaping, or fleet settings. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in vehicles and small engines (2-cycle and 4- cycle) using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and visual inspection. 2. Perform routine and preventive maintenance, such as oil changes, tune-ups, spark plug replacement, lubrication, cleaning, sharpening blades, and filter replacements. 3. Repair or replace defective components including carburetors, valves, pistons, magnetos, water pumps, gears, brakes, transmissions, and hydraulic systems. 4. Dismantle, inspect, repair, reassemble, and test engines and equipment. 5. Fabricate or modify metal parts as needed (cutting, shaping, welding). 6. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, time spent, and maintenance logs for compliance and inventory. 7. Order parts and supplies; manage tool and equipment inventory to ensure availability and safety. 8. Perform on-site repairs when required and assist with other maintenance tasks or trades. 9. Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations; test equipment for proper function after repairs. 10. Drives and operates, maintenance vehicles, and other vehicles and equipment to job locations. 11. Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, including 2- and 4-stroke cycles, hydraulics, electrical systems, and power transmission. 12. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, air tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring devices. 13. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, service manuals, and follow oral/written instructions. 14. Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. 15. Good communication skills for documenting work and interacting with team members or customers. 16. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions (e.g., working with fuels, oils, electrical components, and heavy equipment). 17. Ensure timely completion of assignments, and adherence to standards. 18. Inspect and perform maintenance. Reports deficiencies for repair or repairs equipment. 19. Complies with CO-USA Environmental, Health and Safety Policies. Wears Goggles, Gloves, Rubber Boots, Air Masks, Scrub Brushes, Safety Harness, Tripods, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, Atmospheric Monitor, etc. when needed 20. Effective and respectful communications with employees, within theCO-USA. 21.
Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations. 22. Can clearly articulate complex issues both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical personnel. 23. Ensures adherence to standards, specifications, and equipment manufacturer recommendations to obtain maximum operational status. 24. Must be able to perform basic preventative maintenance functions to vehicles, tools, and equipment being used. 25. Ensures vehicle schedules are performed. 26. Must possess manual dexterity and a complete understanding of hand tools and the application of the many types of fittings and repair accessories. 27. Ability to build and sustain a collaborative, high performance team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, empowerment, and vision. 28. Understands issues and complexity of situations and communicates in an appropriate and effective way. Get things accomplished in difficult environments. Must have and maintain a valid Missouri Driver's license and be able to obtain an authorized pass to access Fort Leonard Wood. 2. High school diploma or GED (required); technical certification, vocational training, or postsecondary program in small engine repair, automotive technology, or related field (preferred). 3. 1-2+ years of hands-on experience repairing vehicles, small engines, or fleet equipment. 4. Ability to work independently or as part of a team; some roles may involve lead responsibilities.COMMUNICATION SKILLS 1.
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills. 2. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written format using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative effort, and feedback. 3.
