Non-Exempt About MCC Metropolitan Community College is the oldest public institution of higher learning in Kansas City, Missouri, founded in 1915 as the Kansas City Polytechnic Institute. The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River , located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley , located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. POOL POSITION

Application materials for this position is accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand. Part-Time Staff Automotive Assistant assists with lab and tool room needs for students in the automotive technology lab. Must have flexible availability to work shifts. Current needs are

Thursday:

11am-2pm,

Fridays:

8am-5pm and be able to sub as needed. Essential Functions Assist in the Automotive Lab by providing support to automotive technology instructor(s). Assist faculty and staff with the setup and maintenance of laboratory vehicles, components, and equipment in labs as needed. Provide assistance to students using specialized automotive diagnostic computer software applications. Assist supervisor in all areas related to the operation of the automotive labs including safety procedures. Assist with minor repairs on laboratory equipment and coordinate equipment repair and supply orders. Work with the instructional office in support of the campus inventory process. Oversee the process of checking out tools, parts, supplies, and equipment to lab students. Check in customer vehicles, write repair orders and collect payment for completed customer repairs. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma

OR G.E.D.

One (1) year relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an educational or training related environment Ability and knowledge to maintain standard automotive shop equipment

Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of a diverse community Ability to work well with others Strong oral and written communication skills Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require feeling, grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
