Trailer Mechanic Alpha Trailer & Truck Specialties Pearl, MS Job Details Full-time $17 - $28 an hour 23 hours ago Qualifications Equipment repair Outdoor work Impact wrenches Attention to detail Power tools Hand tools Full Job Description Job Description Alpha Trailer and Truck Specialties is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Utility/Equipment/Dump/Cargo Trailer Mechanic to join our service team. We handle everything from routine maintenance to complex structural repairs and custom builds. If you have a strong mechanical aptitude, a solid work ethic, and experience working on trailers, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repair:
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, braking systems, and suspension components on various types of utility, equipment, and cargo trailers.
Axle & Brake Service:
Perform routine pack-and-seal wheel bearing services, axle replacements, and full brake system overhauls (electric and surge).
Fabrication & Welding:
Execute structural repairs, frame modifications, and custom fabrication using MIG/TIG welding processes.
Wiring:
Read and implement standard 7-way trailer wiring diagrams, troubleshoot lighting issues, and install aftermarket accessories (e.g., brake controllers, auxiliary power).
General Maintenance:
Perform multi-point safety inspections, tire replacements, and general mechanical repairs on trucks and trailers.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience in trailer repair, automotive mechanics, or heavy equipment maintenance.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of 12V DC electrical systems, trailer suspension, and drum/disc brake assemblies.
Welding Skills:
Proficient in welding and steel/aluminum fabrication is highly preferred.
Tools:
Must possess a personal inventory of standard mechanics' hand tools and air/battery-powered impact tools.
Attributes:
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment, problem-solve on the fly, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
