Job Description

Position Overview:
Under general supervision, performs basic vehicle maintenance. This is an entry-level position assisting the mechanics in repairing and maintaining police vehicles and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs basic vehicle maintenance such as oil changes, fluid flushes, filter replacements, battery installations, and tire rotations. Change tires and make necessary repairs. Assists automotive mechanics with routine preventative maintenance of fleet vehicles. Assists with moving vehicles to various locations as needed. Coordinates and updates inventory records for tire supply. Cleans and organizes the maintenance of the shop. Fuels vehicles.
Non-Essential Job Functions:
Deliver and pickup equipment and supplies as needed. All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Hand and power tools used to repair and maintain vehicles. Basic knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems. Basic mechanical ability.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver license from state of residency
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
This position requires working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold. The position entails working in situations that may expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, electrical shock or mechanical hazards. Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, crawling, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily activities. The nature of the work may also require the use of power and noise-producing tools and equipment, and drive motorized vehicles.
