MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Helper High School Diploma or GED Certificate 6-12 months experience in Automotive/Mechanical work Valid Driver's License required (subject to motor vehicle review) Apprentice Vocational /Specialized Training 1-2 years experience in Automotive/Mechanical work Enrollment in the Apprenticeship Program is required in accordance with standards Requires a Valid CDL Driver's License, Class "A" with HAZMAT Endorsement (subject to motor vehicle review) Journeyman Journeyman certification from a Bonafide Apprenticeship program. Vocational/Specialized Training in related field. 5 -7 years experience in Auto Mechanic. Experience in Automotive/Mechanical work. Requires a Valid CDL Driver's License, Class "A" with HAZMAT Endorsement required (subject to motor vehicle record review)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Helper Assists other mechanics by cleaning, greasing and oiling company vehicles. Repairs or replaces parts on vehicles and equipment as instructed. Assists and performs preventive maintenance on company vehicles, equipment and specialized equipment, as assigned. Realigns front end and balances wheels. Assists automotive mechanics in servicing and repair of heavy equipment. Assists in cleaning of the shop and surrounding areas. Removes or disassembles worn parts. Uses Authority-owned equipment in a manner which subjects it to normal wear and tear only. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Apprentice Performs repairs and/or adjustments upon diagnosis of company vehicles, equipment, or specialized equipment, as assigned. Performs preventive maintenance and/or repairs on company vehicles and equipment, some of which are specialized in nature. Ensures that all vehicle and equipment service and repair procedures comply with required safety procedures. Assists in repairs and/or adjustments on gasoline or diesel powered vehicles and equipment. Performs field mechanic duties, as assigned. Repairs or replaces parts on vehicles and equipment as instructed. Assists automotive mechanics in servicing and repair of heavy equipment. Maintains, repairs and services all vehicles and equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Journeyman Performs preventive maintenance and/or repairs on company vehicles and equipment, some of which are specialized in nature. Ensures that all vehicles and equipment service and repair procedures comply with required safety procedures. Repairs or replaces parts on vehicles and equipment as instructed. Verifies that vehicles and equipment can pass appropriate safety inspections. Communicates with the field concerning heavy equipment operations. Maintains, repairs and services all vehicles and equipment. Determines the need and extent of repair work required on vehicles and equipment based on operator's reports and testing equipment. Performs field mechanic duties as assigned including after hour emergencies. Coordinates functions related to production and inventory control, and reviews completed sales orders. Directs operation of facilities utilized for repairing, servicing, and storing motor vehicles. Assists in instructing Apprentices on work procedures applicable to their respective Apprenticeship level. Maintains a safe and orderly vehicle shop.
