Job Description
Take the lead in a senior-level technician role where your experience is trusted, and your skills are put to work on complex diagnostics and repairs. As a Technician III, you'll handle advanced mechanical issues independently, support shop operations, and help guide junior technicians—all while keeping a critical fleet safe and road-ready.

- sign-on bonus (paid at $1667 intervals after 60, 120, and 240 days) +

- Schedule
- + First shift: 5:00 am to 1:30 pm + Second shift: 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm
- What You'll Do
- + Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues on buses, vans, and fleet vehicles + Perform advanced repairs including brakes, engines, drivetrains, suspensions, and transmissions + Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual inspections + Remove, overhaul, and reinstall major components (engine, transmission, differential) + Use diagnostic software and manufacturer systems to troubleshoot faults + Support and mentor Technician I and II team members + Lead road calls and emergency repairs as needed + Maintain accurate work orders, parts usage, and maintenance records + Identify safety concerns and ensure all work meets company and DOT standards + Safely move vehicles and maintain shop equipment •What We're Looking For•+ 5+ years of automotive or diesel repair experience (or equivalent) + Strong diagnostic ability—able to troubleshoot and fix issues independently + Experience with electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems + Ability to mentor junior techs and contribute to shop leadership + Valid driver's license (CDL with passenger endorsement required or ability to obtain within 3 months) + Ability to meet DOT and state inspection standards + Own and maintain a complete set of tools + Reliable, consistent attendance •Work Environment•+ Shop environment with exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and outdoor conditions + Ability to lift 50+ lbs + Work in physically demanding positions (including under vehicles on a creeper) •First for a reason:•At First Student, we are a family of 60,000+ employees who take pride in safely transporting more than 5 million students and passengers to and from their destinations each day!
