Job Description An established company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment and Semi-Truck Mechanic to maintain and repair our company-owned equipment and vehicle fleet. The primary responsibility of this position is keeping our excavators, forklifts, semi-trucks, trailers and other equipment operating safely and reliably. A key part of this role will also be helping management establish and maintain an organized preventive-maintenance program as the company and its equipment fleet continue to grow. We operate multiple locations, so occasional travel to other company facilities will be required to inspect, maintain or repair equipment. This is a hands-on position with a small, team-oriented company that is growing at a very fast pace. Because we operate with a small team, everyone is expected to help wherever needed. When repairs and preventive maintenance are caught up, the mechanic will also assist with general facility maintenance, equipment operation and other company tasks. Responsibilities Diagnose, maintain and repair excavators, forklifts, semi-trucks, trailers and other company equipment Troubleshoot diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brakes, steering, suspension and cooling systems Work with management to establish preventive-maintenance schedules for all company vehicles and equipment Track service intervals based on mileage, operating hours, manufacturer recommendations and equipment condition Maintain organized records of inspections, services, repairs, parts and upcoming maintenance needs Help prioritize repairs and maintenance to minimize unexpected breakdowns and equipment downtime Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, oil changes and scheduled services Identify developing mechanical problems before they cause equipment downtime Travel occasionally between company locations to perform inspections, maintenance and repairs Perform minor welding and fabrication when qualified Help order parts and keep commonly needed maintenance supplies organized Keep management informed about equipment condition, needed repairs and anticipated maintenance expenses Assist with general facility maintenance and daily operations when mechanical work is caught up Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area Qualifications Previous experience repairing diesel trucks, heavy equipment or industrial equipment is required Experience with excavators, hydraulic systems, forklifts and Class 8 semi-trucks is strongly preferred Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently Ability to develop and maintain organized maintenance schedules and service records Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals and hydraulic schematics Willingness and ability to travel occasionally between company locations Welding and fabrication experience is helpful but not required Valid driver's license required CDL is helpful but not required ASE or other mechanical certifications are helpful but not required Must be dependable, organized, safety-conscious and willing to help wherever needed Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in an active work environment Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and perform the physical duties associated with mechanical work What We Offer Consistent, full-time employment 40 hours per week Competitive hourly pay based on experience and ability Year-round work A wide variety of equipment and repair work An opportunity to help build and improve the company's maintenance program Long-term opportunity with a company that is growing very quickly A practical, team-oriented working environment To apply, please submit your résumé or detailed work history through Indeed.
