Job Description

Automotive Technician
  • German / European Repair & Performance Shop Howdy Automotive Hinckley, OH $19
  • $45 an hour
  • Full-time $19
  • $45 an hour
  • Full-time Howdy Automotive is a small but growing German/European repair shop focused on Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes, and other higher-end import vehicles.
We're not trying to be the cheapest shop in town. We're building a shop that does good work, communicates clearly, fixes cars correctly, and attracts customers who care about their vehicles. A lot of what we do is regular service and repair, but we also lean into the fun side of German cars: performance upgrades, diagnostics, timing chains, carbon cleaning, suspension, clutches, DSG services, engine work, and modified Audi/VW/BMW projects. We're looking for a technician who wants more than just another job turning basic maintenance all day. This is a good fit for someone who likes German cars, likes learning, likes solving problems, and wants to be part of a shop while it is still small enough that your work actually matters. What You'll Be Doing You'll be working on a mix of German and European vehicles, including: Diagnostics and drivability issues Maintenance and service work Brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, oil leaks, and general repair Timing chain jobs, carbon cleaning, valve covers, PCV systems, water pumps, etc. Performance-related work depending on skill level Helping keep jobs moving efficiently and cleanly Communicating what you find clearly so estimates can be written properly Taking pride in doing the job right instead of rushing it out the door half-done We are not looking for someone who needs their hand held on every basic repair, but we also do not expect you to know everything. If you have the right attitude, can think through problems, and want to get better, that matters here. Who This Job Is For This is probably a good fit if you: Like German cars and want to work on more Audi/VW/BMW/Mercedes vehicles Are interested in the performance side, not just basic oil changes and brakes Want to grow with a small shop instead of being just another number Can diagnose instead of only replace parts Care about doing clean, correct work Want variety in your day Are reliable and can show up when you say you will Can be honest about what you know and what you need help with Want to help build something instead of just clocking in and checking out Who This Job Is Not For This probably is not the right fit if you: Need a large dealership structure for everything Hate diagnostics Do sloppy work and hope nobody notices Do not want to learn German vehicles Cannot take notes, pictures, or explain what you found Bring constant drama or ego into the shop Only want to do quick lube work forever We are small, so every person matters. The right person will have a lot of room to grow here. The wrong person will stand out quickly. Requirements Automotive repair experience required German/European vehicle experience preferred Diagnostic ability strongly preferred Must have your own basic tools Valid driver's license required Must be dependable, organized, and able to work cleanly Must be comfortable working in a smaller independent shop environment ASE certifications are a plus, but they are not the deciding factor. Real ability, good judgment, and the right attitude matter more. Pay Pay is based on experience, ability, and what you can actually handle. We are open to talking with someone who is a solid B-tech looking to grow, or a more experienced technician who already knows German vehicles well.
Pay range:
$20 to $40 per hour, depending on experience & pay structure. Open to flat rate or hybrid base hourly + commission. Why Work Here Howdy Automotive is still growing, which means this is not a "plug into a giant machine" type of job. You will have the chance to work directly with the owner, help shape how the shop operates, and be part of building a real German/performance-focused repair shop in the area. We want someone who takes the work seriously, wants to get better, and is excited by the idea of helping grow a shop instead of just working inside one. Schedule Full-time and/or part-time will be considered Exact schedule can be discussed depending on experience and fit. How to Apply Send your resume or a quick message with: Your automotive experience What brands you have worked on What types of jobs you are comfortable doing Whether you have German/European experience What kind of work you want to be doing more of We are not looking for perfect.
