We've been serving the Clackamas area for more than 20 years. The shop was founded by a technician, and that still shows in how we operate today. Rob's Automotive is positive, professional, and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on honesty, transparency, technical excellence, and taking great care of customers. This is not a shop where good technicians are expected to keep their heads down and simply produce. Ideas and feedback are welcome. We start each day with a morning huddle, leadership makes time for one-on-one conversations about personal and professional goals, and the management style is supportive while still maintaining high standards. You'll also work alongside a stable team of experienced technicians who help each other when a difficult job comes in. The pace is busy, but collaborative, and there is a hands-on lead technician available when another set of eyes is useful.

Pay and Benefits Technician pay:

$35

• 55 per flat-rate hour, based on experience and skill.

Production is rewarded on top of your normal rate. Once you flag more than 40 hours, your rate increases by $5 per hour. At 45.1 hours, the increase becomes $10 per hour. At 50.1 hours, it becomes $15 per hour, with the same progression continuing as production increases. Pay is issued weekly.

Some technicians work four-day schedules, and other accommodations can be made. A typical week is around 45 hours, with work beyond that being uncommon. A Shop Built With Technicians in Mind Rob's Automotive Repair started as a 4x4 and off-road specialty shop before growing into a full-service, all-makes repair facility. Today, the work can include domestic, Asian, and European vehicles, along with light and medium-duty trucks, RVs, gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles. The shop also handles fleet, extended-warranty, and insurance work. The Work You won't be limited to maintenance and parts replacement. This position is intended for a technician who enjoys real mechanical and diagnostic work. The expected mix is roughly 70% mechanical repair, 20% testing and diagnostics, and 10% maintenance. You should be comfortable independently handling work such as: Advanced engine diagnosis and repair Timing belts and timing chains Cylinder-head and internal engine work Transmission and driveline R&R Drivability and intermittent concerns Electrical testing with a DVOM and wiring diagrams CAN/LIN network and module diagnosis Scan-data interpretation and bi-directional controls Noise diagnosis Building a diagnostic strategy from actual test results rather than guessing The Shop The facility has seven primary bays with two lifts per bay, plus a dedicated bay with alignment and tire equipment. The shop is heated, well ventilated, and supported by the kind of tool and equipment investment you would expect from a business founded by a former technician who still likes having the right equipment available. The shop uses Tekmetric, digital vehicle inspections through Tekmetric and Detect Auto, and Shop Hero for workflow management. You'll need to bring your normal technician tools, but there are no unusual specialty-tool requirements beyond the basics. Training That Continues After You're Hired Being experienced does not mean you should stop learning. Rob's Automotive Repair pays for training and certification opportunities and offers continuing education through different vendors and training companies. Technicians commonly complete 30 to 50 hours of continuing education in a year, although there is not a rigid annual minimum. Additional certification completion can also earn you a bonus. There is also room to grow beyond the bay. Leadership and business development are encouraged, including a company-sponsored group that works through leadership, business, and automotive-industry material together. What We're Looking For This opportunity is best suited for an experienced Advanced Technician who can work independently, including on diagnostic problems. Around 5 to 8 years of experience is preferred.
