This is not simply a mechanic position. We are looking for a self-motivated leader who can build systems, establish preventative maintenance programs, train team members, improve efficiency, and take ownership of the fleet operation without needing constant direction. The ideal candidate is someone who identifies problems before they occur, creates solutions, builds processes, and continuously improves the department.
Fleet Overview The fleet includes:
Ford Transit Vans Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Vans Ford E450 Shuttle Buses Ford F550 Shuttle Buses Freightliner Shuttle Buses MCI Motor Coaches Custom commercial AC systems Suburban SUVs, Lincoln Nautilus sedans, and Volvo S90 sedans Experience working on a mixed fleet of diesel and gasoline-powered commercial vehicles is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Fleet Maintenance & Repairs Perform and oversee preventative maintenance Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, AC, suspension, brake, steering, and drivability issues Troubleshoot complex vehicle problems independently Coordinate major repairs with outside vendors when necessary Ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant, and service-ready Fleet Management Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules Build and maintain maintenance tracking systems Create standard operating procedures for maintenance operations Track vehicle downtime and identify root causes Manage parts inventory and purchasing Monitor maintenance costs and identify opportunities for improvement Team Development Train and mentor mechanics, detailers, and support personnel Create repeatable maintenance procedures Develop training programs and documentation Establish accountability and performance standards Help build a department that can operate efficiently as the company grows Compliance & Safety Maintain DOT compliance standards Ensure vehicles pass inspections and safety requirements Assist with accident-related repairs and investigations Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Takes ownership without being asked Does not require constant supervision Can build systems and improve processes Has strong diagnostic abilities Thinks proactively rather than reactively Can train others and develop future team members Understands how to scale a maintenance operation Is organized, accountable, and detail-oriented Qualifications 7+ years of fleet maintenance experience Experience working on buses, coaches, shuttle buses, vans, and commercial vehicles Strong diesel and gasoline engine knowledge Experience with commercial buses and bus AC systems preferred Strong electrical diagnostic skills Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred CDL preferred but not required What Success Looks Like Preventative maintenance is completed on time Vehicle downtime is minimized Maintenance costs are controlled and tracked Clear systems and procedures are in place New mechanics can be trained successfully using documented processes The fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready for service Compensation & Benefits $25-$35 per hour -Based on experience Performance Bonus Paid Time Off (PTO) Health, Vision, Dental Insurance 401(k) This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who wants to build and improve a fleet maintenance operation while having a direct impact on the success and growth of the organization.

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
