An emergency vehicle technician (EVT) specializing in electrical systems maintains, diagnoses, and repairs critical safety vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances. These professionals ensure that complex emergency apparatus, including pumping systems, aerial devices, and specialized lighting, remain operational. Responsibilities Troubleshooting and repairing 12V systems, emergency lighting, sirens, radios, and multiplexing systems Diagnostic troubleshooting Performing inspections and routine service to ensure reliability Installing specialized equipment on new emergency vehicles Read blueprints Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition Wear and maintain all required PPE Comply with all safety regulations Support team members with vehicle repair and prep tasks as needed Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 3 years' experience preferred Strong background in heavy-duty diesel or automotive repair Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hoists, and reading schematics Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently Must supply own tools Strong electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills are crucial Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 lbs.; frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stretching, reaching, fine and gross manipulation Additional Details
