About the Role Shearon Environmental Design Company is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Mechanic to oversee equipment maintenance and fleet operations for our Commercial Landscape Construction Division based in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The Lead Mechanic will be responsible for managing all aspects of equipment repair, maintenance scheduling, and shop operations, ensuring all construction and landscape crews are fully supported with safe, reliable, and efficient equipment. This position plays a vital leadership role, supervising mechanics, coordinating with field teams, and maintaining compliance with company standards. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform and oversee repairs and preventative maintenance on all fleet and construction equipment, including trucks, trailers, skid steers, loaders, compactors, trenchers, and small engines. Service and repair heavy equipment such as backhoes, track loaders, and tractors manufactured by Case, Kubota, and Takeuchi. Maintain a fleet of company vehicles, including small trucks, SUVs, and stake-body trucks from Ford, GMC, and Ram (both gas and diesel). Oversee maintenance of small power equipment such as commercial lawn mowers (Hustler, Scag), weed whackers, and leaf blowers. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and implement effective solutions. Manage parts inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain efficient shop operations. Leadership & Team Oversight Supervise a team of mechanics and shop technicians; provide training and mentorship in safe and efficient repair practices. Coordinate maintenance schedules with project managers to minimize downtime and support construction timelines. Promote and enforce adherence to company safety standards and procedures. Fleet & Equipment Management Implement and maintain fleet management systems to track maintenance schedules, inspections, and repair histories. Ensure compliance with DOT and environmental regulations. Develop and refine systems that improve fleet reliability, safety, and cost-efficiency. What We Are Looking For Experience & Expertise 7+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within the construction or landscape industry. Strong background in both diesel and gasoline-powered engines, heavy equipment, and hydraulic systems. Proven ability to lead and train a team of mechanics or technicians. Skills & Qualifications Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and leadership abilities. Working knowledge of fleet management software preferred. Pay:
$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
