Job Description

Automotive Technician — B-Level / Apprentice Wareing Sturgis Ford | Sturgis, SD Like working on cars and actually want to enjoy the people you work with? Wareing Sturgis Ford is looking for a B-Level Technician or Apprentice Technician to join our service department. We're not looking for someone who can rebuild a transmission blindfolded while diagnosing a CAN bus problem with their other hand. If you can already do that, though... please apply immediately. What we're really looking for is someone who has some automotive experience, enjoys working with their hands, wants to get better at the trade, and can be part of a team. If you're still learning, that's okay. We'll help you learn. What You'll Actually Be Doing Your workload will depend on what you already know, but you'll have the opportunity to work on: Maintenance and inspections Brakes Steering and suspension Tires and alignments Fluid services Electrical repairs Engine and drivability concerns Diagnostic work as your skills develop Larger repairs alongside experienced technicians Ford training and certifications We're not going to throw an apprentice an engine job on Monday morning and say "good luck." The goal is to give you work that matches your ability, teach you the next level, and keep progressing from there. Who Would Fit In Here?
Someone who:
Shows up and is ready to work Has a good attitude Can take a joke Isn't afraid to ask questions Takes pride in doing things correctly Wants to learn instead of pretending to know everything Can work with technicians, advisors, and parts without starting a small civil war Has a valid driver's license Has basic automotive tools or is working toward building a tool set Automotive schooling, dealership experience, Ford experience, or certifications are great. None of them are required for the right person. Yes, It's Still Work. There will be busy days. There will be frustrating vehicles. There will probably be at least one bolt that makes you question your career choices. But we also believe you can run a productive service department without making everyone miserable. We want people who work hard, help each other, laugh occasionally, learn from mistakes, and go home at the end of the day feeling like they accomplished something. We Want This Position to Go Somewhere We're not looking for a permanent apprentice.
The goal is:
Apprentice → B-Tech → A-Tech As your skills increase, your responsibilities, training opportunities, and earning potential should increase with them. If you're already a B-Level Technician, we'll start with what you know and work on getting you to the next level. The Basics Full-time Monday through Friday No regular weekends Ford manufacturer training Hands-on training with experienced technicians Advancement opportunities Established dealership and service department Benefits based on company eligibility Pay based on experience and ability Think You'd Fit In? You don't need a perfect résumé. If you know your way around a vehicle, want to become a better technician, and want to work somewhere that takes the job seriously without taking ourselves seriously 100% of the time , we'd like to talk to you. Apply through Indeed or stop in and introduce yourself.
