Option 1: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education; Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment Texas Trade & Industrial Education Teacher Certificate; or Eligible for Certification in Career & Technical Education through an approved Alternative Certification Program; and Eligible for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from TEA. OR Option 2: Associate's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education; Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment Eligible for Certification in Career & Technical Education through an approved Alternative Certification Program; and Eligible for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from TEA. OR Option 3: High School Diploma or equivalent; Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification or ability to obtain within the first year of employment Eligible for Certification in Career & Technical Education through an approved Alternative Certification Program; and Eligible for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) from TEA.
Required Experience:
Option 1: Have two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in the automotive technician field. OR Option 2: Have two years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in the automotive technician field. Or Option 3: Have five years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in the automotive technician field. The Automotive Technician Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instructional lessons contributing to the educational, social, and physical development of students to enhance their self-worth and equip them with the basic knowledge, skills and abilities needed to function in society. Considerable judgment, tact, patience, sensitivity, and flexibility are required to interact with students from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and learning styles. This position required creativity and adaptive thinking to match teaching objectives, learning strategies, and instructional plans with students' abilities. Judgment is required to interpret broad State, Local and Federal laws, regulations, and policies affecting the lives and education of students and the impact of the laws on instructional methodologies or techniques employed.
