The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing customer vehicles in accordance with dealership standards and manufacturer specifications. The Automotive Service Technician performs quality automotive repairs and maintenance while providing excellent customer service and maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and other automotive problems.
Diagnose vehicle problems using diagnostic equipment, tools, and technical information.
Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, tire services, brake inspections, fluid services, and other scheduled maintenance.
Perform repairs and replacements of automotive components and systems.
Perform engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, electrical, and air conditioning repairs as required.
Follow manufacturer specifications, dealership procedures, and recommended repair practices.
Accurately document all inspections, diagnoses, repairs, and maintenance performed.
Conduct road tests as necessary to verify vehicle concerns and confirm that repairs have been completed properly.
Communicate vehicle concerns and recommended repairs to the Service Advisor or appropriate dealership personnel.
Maintain and properly use tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow all dealership safety policies and procedures.
Properly handle and dispose of automotive fluids, parts, and other materials in accordance with applicable requirements.
Complete assigned work in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining high-quality standards.
Stay current with changes in automotive technology, diagnostic procedures, and manufacturer requirements.
Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid drivers license. Previous experience as an automotive technician or mechanic a plus. Knowledge of automotive systems, maintenance procedures, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with dealership personnel and customers. Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
