Automotive Mechanic.Location:

Full-Time. Under general supervision, performs routine to complex maintenance and repairs on City vehicles, heavy equipment, and specialized units. Responsibilities include diagnostics, major mechanical repairs, preventive maintenance, fabrication, and ensuring fleet safety and readiness.Essential Functions:
Prepare work orders and discuss service requests with customers. Prioritize repair requests and perform both minor and major repairs. Use computer systems for diagnostics. Overhaul automotive and heavy equipment systems (engines, transmissions, suspensions, axles, etc.) Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. Assess electrical faults and determine appropriate repair actions. Prepare parts requests and maintain accurate records. Perform tune-ups, fuel injection diagnosis, and advanced troubleshooting. Repair specialized units and equipment as needed. Conduct preventive maintenance services and schedules. Inspect City units for operational readiness. Test equipment after completing repairs. Fabricate parts and perform welding when needed. Provide road service calls as required. Assist with general building maintenance. Maintain clean and safe work areas. Follow all City safety rules and regulations. Support positive interactions with City staff, visitors, and the public. Perform additional duties as assigned.Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of:
City policies and procedures. Advanced vehicle and equipment maintenance & repair practices. Troubleshooting techniques. Fabrication methods. Recordkeeping standards. Safety procedures. Computers and diagnostic software. Skill in: Using testing/measuring equipment. Operating power and hand tools. Operating motorized equipment. Reading technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, bulletins, and parts catalogs. Performing accurate mathematical calculations. Providing effective customer service. Applying City policies and state/federal regulations. Communicating effectively in writing and verbally. Maintaining cooperative working relationships.Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of advanced automotive or motorized equipment maintenance and repair experience. Equivalent combinations of education/experience may be considered.License and Certification Requirements:
Valid Texas Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). May require Texas Inspector License. May require Freon Service License.Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Work performed indoors and outdoors.May be exposed to:
