Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience. A valid commercial driver's license is required. Completion of a Defensive Driving course is required within the first six months of hire.
Job Summary:
To operate vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license in a safe manner. Duties vary with the type of vehicle operated. (Position is subject to DOT regulations, which include drug and alcohol testing. Testing includes pre-employment, random, and for-cause.)
Job Duties:
Operates a roll-on, roll-off truck for hauling roll-on, roll-off containers to the Transfer Station or Landfill. Operates container-carrier truck for hauling 4 cubic yards of municipal solid waste containers from various sites on campus to the services building. Transports medical waste from clinical areas on campus to the services building.- Delivers and/or retrieves materials as instructed. Assists in the loading and unloading of materials from vehicles. Assists in transporting patients and other assigned passengers on and/or off campus. Maintains a daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers/cargo, destination, and fuel/oil consumption. Inspects the condition of all assigned vehicles on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires, and water. Inspects the condition of all assigned vehicles on a regular basis with regard to oil, fuel, tires, and water. Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisor and/or fleet planning. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Equipment:
Operation of three-quarter to three-ton vehicles, including trucks or vans.
Working Environment/Location of Position:
Lift and move heavy objects over 50 lbs. Drive vehicles under adverse weather conditions and the ability to cope with emergency driving situations. Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace, and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort. Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.

Positions subject to DOT regulations, which include drug and alcohol testing. Testing includes pre-employment, random, and for cause. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, and as needed on occasion.
