Job Description

Clean Harbors is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair a diverse fleet of trucks and equipment supporting environmental and industrial service operations. In this safety-first role, you will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems. You'll ensure all assets meet DOT and company standards, maintain accurate service records, and support field teams with reliable, compliant equipment in a fast-paced, environmentally focused workplace. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair company trucks and equipment, including diesel and gasoline engines Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend asset life Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, brake, suspension, and electrical systems Ensure all vehicles comply with DOT, company, and safety regulations Respond to and support emergency or field repairs as needed Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage records Collaborate with operations and drivers to prioritize repairs and equipment readiness Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations in the shop and field Required Skills Diesel engine diagnostics and repair Hydraulic system maintenance Brake and suspension repair Electrical system diagnostics Preventive maintenance scheduling Use of diagnostic scan tools Welding and basic fabrication Reading technical manuals and schematics DOT and OSHA safety compliance Maintenance recordkeeping
