Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED Associates of Occupational Studies Degree in Automotive Technology (Preferred) Valid Texas Commercial driver's license (Class A or B), with Passenger and School Bus endorsements or obtain within 90 days of employment (preferred) Must possess the minimum required tools for a mechanic Three years' experience as mechanic (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills :
Advance knowledge of diesel and gas engines Advance knowledge on proper maintenance and repair of both diesel and gas engine vehicles Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in vehicle repair Ability to lift heavy equipment and vehicle parts Ability to pass alcohol and drug test Ability to pass required bus driver safety training Acceptable driving record Ability to operate a school bus Ability to read wiring diagrams Knowledgeable in Microsoft word and Excel spreadsheets
