JOB DESCRIPTION - DALLAS TRAILER REPAIR CO. MOBILE TRAILER TECHNICIAN PFLUGERVILLE / AUSTIN TX
Apply on Indeed or www.dallastrailer.com/careers/ Job Summary This position is responsible for safely operating a mobile repair vehicle for the routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair on all trailers and related equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic's tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be able to work independently or as a team member. Key Responsibilities Aptitude in using various hand tools, power tools and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers) Maintains, diagnoses, and repairs a variety of equipment including; electrical systems, air systems Execute required procedures for preventative maintenance inspections. Perform inspections required by the company. Perform basic troubleshooting with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Read and follow the repair manual. Perform repairs as listed in manuals Operate and maintain power equipment. Order parts as necessary for equipment with prior approval. Install and/or replace new or reconditioned repair parts. Basic testing of equipment for proper operation. Complete proper paperwork as assigned. May be required to assist other maintenance employees. Problem solve and document an action plan for all repairs and follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs. Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace, including regularly cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment. Cleaning and upkeep of the shop is necessary, which will include sweeping, cleaning, and trash removal Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices. Ability to work independently, as well as support coworkers, able to work as part of team and work well with co-workers. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge & Skill Requirements Possess a valid driver's license and a clear Motor Vehicle Report to our Driver Fleet Policy. Must be "insurable" according DTR's insurance company's requirements (acceptable driving record, age min/max requirements) Must be able to read and write in English, in order to follow local, state, and federal driving laws and signs and as required for documentation of diagnosis and solutions.
Experience:
1-2 years of mechanical or equivalent experience.
Certifications:
ASE certifications highly desired but not required. Must pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test, background check (10-year), and drug/medical physical exam. Proven mechanical aptitude and basic math skills. Ability to read and write in English for documentation and communication. Must have own tools and safety gear (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection).
Physical Demands Heavy Work:
Exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
Frequent activities:
Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.
Manual dexterity:
Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping, typing, and operating tools.
Sensory abilities:
Talking, hearing, & vision sufficient for detailed inspection, safe operation of tools, machinery, and vehicles. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a shop setting — both indoors and outdoors.
Conditions may include exposure to:
Non-climate-controlled environments / Hot/cold temperature changes Dirt, dust, soot, fumes, and other airborne particles Moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment Chemicals and limited ventilation High places, confined spaces, and loud noise Proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are required at all times.
Compensation & Benefits Flat Rate:
$28 - $32 (depending on experience and location)
