Perform maintenance and repair of emergency vehicles and equipment, including fire apparatus, ambulances, and law enforcement units; diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and computerized systems to ensure safe and reliable vehicle operation; conduct preventive maintenance and inspections, including state safety and emissions testing, brake systems, and front-end alignments; maintain and repair specialized fire equipment systems such as pumps, aerial devices, foam systems, and hydraulic components; upfit and vehicles for emergency service use while ensuring compliance with operational specifications and requirements; perform road testing and operational checks to verify repairs and ensure equipment is fully functional prior to return to service; coordinate warranty work and external repairs with vendors and manufacturers to support timely and cost-effective service delivery; fabricate, weld, and rebuild components and systems to support repairs and extend asset life; work on-call as scheduled and respond during emergency conditions to perform repair and relief work, including road calls as assigned; maintain regular on-site attendance as an essential function of the position; serve as an essential employee before, during, and after emergencies or disasters; remain compliant with all City and departmental policies and procedures; and perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director or designee. Candidates must pass background check. Convictions will be reviewed on a case by case basis, convictions will not necessarily bar a candidates employment.
