Mechanic Babcock & Wilcox Company - 3.7 South Salt Lake, UT Job Details 23 hours ago Qualifications Inspection gauge Measurement-based inspection Machine repair Forklift Dimensional measurements Bridge crane operation Cutting torches Precision measurement in machining Lifts and hoists Material handling equipment operation Oxy-fuel welding Full Job Description Assembles mechanical units or fabricated parts of various size and complexity using hand tools, jigs, and fixtures, as well as light power tools and equipment. Follows oral instructions, drawings, bills of material, and written procedures. DUTIES Fits, aligns, adjusts, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and operating requirements. Tests assembled parts. Repairs units or parts that have failed to meet specified functional performance. Disassembles and inspects subassemblies. Load and unload material from trucks to storage area and move within workspace using forklift, handcart, or other device. May exercise own technical judgment. Operates drill press, lathe, and milling machines. Inspects components using micrometers and records on inspection form. Disassembles equipment using pneumatic impact tools, torches, and hydraulic tools. Secure rigging and operate overhead cranes. Assemble components by heating, bolting, and welding
QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience as a mechanic. (Auto mechanic acceptable.) One year of experience using common inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, etc. Good written and oral communications Ability to use oxy/acetylene torches. Some experience with welding. Able to work with little to no supervision. Must work well with other but also be comfortable working independently. Some experience operating fork trucks and jib cranes.
