Assists in applying undercoats and finish coats using the full range of application methods and materials. Mix and match paints and finishes. Assist in performing soda and sandblasting. Essential Functions- Removes old paint from equipment using sanders, grinders, chippers or liquids used for removing coating materials and paint surfaces.
- Smooth edges of surface using air-powdered grinder, sandpaper and air-powdered sander for coatings and paint applications
- Utilize pneumatic tools and have knowledge of metal, aluminum and fiberglass preparation techniques in accordance with specifications.
- Cover and protect surfaces not requiring blast or paint with masking tape, paper and products for protecting surfaces.
- Assist painters in paint matching, tinting, toning and blending coating materials.
- Develop the ability to check viscosity of coating materials and thickness of coating on surfaces and ensure that the match, texture, decorative appearance, level and thickness meet finish specifications.
- Participates in the procurement process of materials, tools, supplies and components for wheeled vehicles with different types of substrates such as aluminum, metal and armor plate.
- Maintains bench stock levels with a minimum seven-day supply.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining all spray and shop equipment.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
- Maintain good housekeeping, and energy conservation and safety precautions at all times.
- Complies with all personal protection requirements and able to wear full-face respirators.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling very heavy parts and loads.
- Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
- Maintains preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, cleans common shop and work areas to maintain a safe work environment.
- Be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions when necessary.
- Ensure that all tasks are performed safely.
- Wearing safety items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) e.g. gloves, safety shoes, protective eyewear, hearing protection, and other items such as aprons or outerwear as appropriate.
- Employee is required to maintain a valid state-issued Driver's license and applicable Government/Army license.
- Perform other duties as required to support the mission and contractual requirements. General Requirements
- Ability to complete and prioritize tasks on multiple concurrent projects within given timeframes.

- Knowledge of the standard tools, equipment and materials.
- Knowledge of proper use and procedures to manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste products. Education and Citizenship Requirements
- 2 years hands-on experience and excellent understanding of surface preparation and paint application.
- US nationality/citizenship and residence, with verbal and written fluency in English.
