Job Description

Pulaski County is hiring a full-time Heavy Truck Mechanic to diagnose, repair and perform maintenance and inspections on a variety of medium and heavy-duty automotive equipment, vehicles, and specialized fleet assets. Key duties include troubleshooting and repair of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic, electric, pneumatic and mechanical systems. Strong mechanical skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail are essential. The position reports to the Garage Supervisor. This position involves a 40-hour week with four 10-hour shifts, typically from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Workdays rotate, and occasional evening, weekend, or holiday shifts may be needed. The salary ranges from $41,616 to $70,643 and is commensurate with education and experience. Position requires a high school diploma or GED; vocational training in automotive or diesel tech is preferred as well as 3-5 years of maintenance experience with heavy-duty trucks or construction equipment. ASE certification is a plus. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
