Full Job Description Business Title:
TRUCK SHOP MECHANIC
Job Purpose:
To diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of trucks, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. This includes conducting preventative maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and performing necessary repairs to various truck systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical defects in trucks and trailers, including brakes, engines, transmissions, differentials, and electrical systems. Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and tire rotations. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in various truck components, utilizing diagnostic tools and equipment. Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and identify potential hazards. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used. Order and manage inventory of necessary parts and supplies. Communicate effectively with supervisors and drivers regarding the status of repairs and maintenance. Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations within the shop environment. Maintain a clean and organized work area. May be required to perform road calls or emergency repairs as needed.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
2+ years of experience as a truck mechanic Experience with diesel engines Experience with hydraulic systems Experience with electrical systems Experience with brake systems Experience with preventative maintenance
Required Skills and Abilities:
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems Ability to use diagnostic tools Ability to read and interpret technical manuals Ability to work independently Ability to work as part of a team Ability to lift heavy objects Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail Excellent communication skills Valid driver's license
