Job Description
SUMMARY Performs maintenance and repair of all equipment responsible to the Vehicle Maintenance Department by following proper maintenance programs and repair procedures. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Ensures operation of equipment by completing necessary diagnostic trouble shooting and repairs on and off the mountain, all seasons of the year. Safely operates all equipment, including but not limited to, snowcats, snowmobiles, heavy equipment, all-terrain vehicles, on-road vehicles, etc. Determines feasibility and method of repair by knowledge and review of equipment specifications. Uses knowledge of proper recordkeeping procedures to maintain accurate records of work completed and to be done. Maintains a safe and clean work area by following company safety policies and procedures. Uses electrical and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper repair of equipment. Completes major repairs in a timely manner. Maintains technical knowledge by attending seminars and training courses. Assists in training of staff. Contributes to team effort and shop morale by demonstrating a positive and cooperative attitude and performs duties as assigned. Some job-sharing may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests at all times. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort's Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK SCHEDULE
Flexible working hours. Some night work may be required. Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays, and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on business levels. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Moderate to high formal technical education of gas and diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems and hydraulic and hydrostatic systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of proper record keeping procedures.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements. To assess damages and repairs required and to provide an accurate list of materials needed to effect repairs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics to ensure proper repair of equipment. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent verbal communication skills for interaction with fellow crew members and other department personnel. Minimal guest contact. TOOLS Must have a large collection of hand tools and some specialty tools.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to use good judgment & decision-making skills in completing job responsibilities.

Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials to perform necessary repairs and maintenance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; operating and repairing equipment on the mountain in snowy, wintery conditions day or night; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
