Job Description

Avionics Manager - Performance bonus available
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Avionics Manager to lead our shop floor and drive the technical excellence of every aircraft that comes through our hangar. This is a working leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of master-level avionics craftsmanship and team leadership — directing installations, mentoring technicians, and owning the quality, safety, and on-time delivery of every project. The Avionics Manager is the technical authority on the floor: the person other technicians turn to for the toughest troubleshooting calls, the steady hand at final close-out, and the leader who steps in for the General Manager when needed. If you take pride in turning out flawless work, building strong teams, and seeing aircraft return to service in better shape than they arrived — we want to talk. — Key Responsibilities — Leadership & Team Development Lead the production team day-to-day and serve as acting General Manager during the GM's absence. Serve as the primary technical resource for the shop, resolving complex installation and troubleshooting issues escalated by technicians. Mentor, train, and develop technicians at all skill levels, building a high-performing team and a clear path for career growth. Manage attendance, performance, and compliance across the avionics team. Communicate proactively on job timelines, shop issues, parts delays, and change orders to keep every stakeholder aligned. Quality, Safety & Compliance Own in-process inspections and final close-outs, ensuring every aircraft is delivered on time, clean, fully tested, and with complete paperwork. Verify that all work meets applicable FAA regulatory requirements, manufacturer specifications, and customer expectations. Inspect all work for a defect-free assembly prior to close-out. Write and resolve Corrective Action Reports (CARs) to drive continuous improvement. Maintain records in full compliance with FAA and company requirements. Technical Execution Install, troubleshoot, and repair avionics systems and aircraft wiring across a wide range of corporate and private aircraft. Perform removal and installation of avionics components, fabrication of wire harnesses, terminations, ring-out, and functional testing. Execute soldering, harness build-up, wire stripping and crimping, fault isolation, and repair of avionics system malfunctions. Reassemble aircraft interiors, instrument panels, and avionics equipment bays following installation. Restore aircraft to safe, airworthy condition every time. Operations & Customer Experience Engage directly with customers to understand their needs and deliver solutions that build longterm relationships. Meet all work order deadlines and escalate early when circumstances put a delivery at risk. Maintain the shop facility, equipment, and tools in clean, organized, and serviceable condition. Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and pride in the work.
Job Requirements:
Required Minimum 5 years of general aviation or related aviation experience across all levels. Strong working knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems. Demonstrated experience troubleshooting avionics systems on corporate and private aircraft. Ability to read and work from blueprints, worksheets, manufacturer installation manuals, and engineering drawings — and to conduct and interpret functional tests against them. Proficiency installing harnesses and programming avionics systems. Valid driver's license and ability to pass airport screening. Preferred Pitot-static testing experience. Cabin entertainment and Wi-Fi systems installation experience. Hands-on installation experience with Garmin, Gogo, Honeywell, Avidyne, Aspen, Bendix King, PS Engineering, L3 Communications, JPI, Genesys (S-Tec), and Electronics International. Prior team lead, supervisory, or management experience in an avionics or MRO environment. Why Join Us This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role where your technical expertise drives the success of the entire shop. You'll work on a diverse fleet of corporate and private aircraft, partner closely with a supportive General Manager, and have the autonomy to shape how the team grows and operates. We invest in our people, our facilities, and our equipment — because we expect the best, and we equip our team to deliver it.
