The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM)—the largest aviation maintenance training school in the U.S.—is seeking experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs), Aircraft Mechanics, and FAA-certified A&P Mechanics to join our team as instructors. At AIM, you'll: Share your real-world aircraft maintenance experience with future technicians Enjoy more predictable schedules compared to field work Make a lasting impact on students entering the aviation industry Continue growing your own knowledge while developing others About the Role As an Aircraft Maintenance Instructor (A&P Mechanic Instructor), you will deliver FAA Part 147-aligned aviation maintenance curriculum and provide hands-on instruction to students preparing for careers as aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs). This role is ideal for experienced A&P mechanics, aircraft mechanics, and aviation maintenance professionals who want to combine technical expertise with mentorship and training while delivering hands-on aviation maintenance instruction in classroom and active hangar environments. Schedule Options Option 1: Monday- Friday 7:00 am
- 3:30 pm EST Option 2: Evening shift: Monday
Thursday:
3:00 pm EST- 11:30 pm
EST & Fridays:
11:00 am- 5:00 pm EST Option 3: Weekend shift:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
7:00 am- 5:00 pm EST Key Responsibilities Teach aircraft maintenance systems, procedures, and techniques in a hands-on environment Deliver FAA-aligned curriculum to prepare students for A&P certification Demonstrate practical skills used by A&P mechanics and aviation technicians Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress Support curriculum updates and collaborate with program leadership Help create a structured, engaging, and safety-focused learning environment Maintain classroom, lab equipment, and training materials Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required Associate degree in aviation or related field preferred Experience Minimum 3 years of aircraft maintenance experience Background as an A&P Mechanic, Aircraft Mechanic, or Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Licensure FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required Skills Strong knowledge of aircraft systems and aviation maintenance procedures Interest in mentoring, coaching, and developing others Ability to work in a structured, compliance-driven training environment Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) Flexibility to support evening or weekend schedules as needed What We Offer Competitive hourly pay + sign-on bonus 401(k) with company match Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off (PTO) Paid parental leave Tuition reimbursement Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Career growth opportunities within aviation education We are committed to fostering a workplace that values integrity, growth, and student success.
