Avionics Bench Technician Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Five years' experience with repair and maintenance of legacy avionics units. Work in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team Knowledge of electronics theory and troubleshooting techniques through schooling or on job training experience Interpreting, understanding and following instructions found in technical manuals for equipment being worked on Demonstrate manual dexterity Experience with fine, detailed mechanical work and accuracy and precision Problem-solving skills and manage more than one project at a time Must complete repairs within company standards Experienced with PCB soldering Computer skills Background check for required matters US Persons as defined in 22CFR 120.15 for required matters. Salary Description Depends on relevant experience.
Summary:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, calibrate, overhaul and repair down to the component level (under moderate supervision) a variety of avionics system components for the purpose of ensuring the function and providing the customer with reliable and quality repair. Duties and Responsibilities Ensure the quality of work performed meets FAA data and the manufacturers or industry's specifications Handling all parts while in the repair process through the Avionics Shop until work is completed Preserving all units or parts during process through the Avionics Shop until work is completed Ensure that the Avionics Shop is kept - to Employer's Standards - Ensure all Avionics Shop equipment and tools are in a serviceable working condition Ensure the maintenance data being used is of the latest revision level Perform Preliminary and Hidden damage inspections on equipment Perform the Final Minimum Performance test in the Manufacturer's Maintenance Manuals Adhere to all Southeast Aerospace company policies, safety guidelines, and code of ethical conduct In adhering to company polices, all employees are subject to random drug and alcohol tests Subject to random drug and alcohol testing under DOT and FAA regulations Must perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation Any and all other duties assigned by the supervisor Provide turn over for next technician or shift. Document all calibrated tools and equipment use in the overhaul and or return to service of a Work Order task Preferred Skills Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Monitoring — Monitoring/Assessing performance of oneself to make improvements or take corrective action. Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents. Coordination — Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. Judgment and Decision-Making — Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Speaking — Talking to others to convey information. Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others. Writing — Communicating in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Working Conditions Working conditions for the Avionics Technician will often be an avionics/instrument shop laboratory environment. However, the Avionics Technician II may work in hangars or aircraft ramp areas where the environment can be loud due to aircraft engines and equipment.
